President's Message

Assalam-o-alaikum! As the 24th President of this organization, I welcome you all to the website of Students’ Patient Welfare Society. This organization was established by a group of voluntary Kemcolians more than two decades ago, with a spirit of bringing smiles on the faces of ailing humanity. The aim was simple i.e. to provide maximum possible relief to the suffering, helpless and unattended patients. With every passing year; faces changed, the working spectrum of the society also expanded…….but that spirit of “Service to Man is Service to God.” remained the same. It is that spirit that has nourished this seed, sown about a quarter century ago, into a strong tree now AlhamduLillah. The standards of excellence set by our predecessors are very high and it is a challenge for us to make it even better. I feel privileged to be a part of a great team of volunteers and dedicated medical students who are very much determined to keep this torch burning.

Students’ Patient Welfare society is an organization which apart from  serving the depressed and deprived patients; is also a great institution for young medical students to learn the realities of life…...to feel the real pain and realize the actual problems that  patients are facing around them. I will like to request all of you to join hands with SPWS in helping the helpless. What we are doing may be  just a drop in the ocean.  But if that drop was not in the ocean, the ocean would certainly be less because of that missing drop.

The Situation of Health care sector has been deteriorating in our country and the people that are most badly effected are the Poor uneducated lot.And Its a pity that they make a Major Portion of our community.Regardless of who are responsible for this,Only the poor patients are sufferers. When any poor person falls ill,He is more worried about the Financial aspects, arrangement and hospital Phobia issues rather than the disease itself. How will he manage money? How will he manage Blood? How come will he buy medicine?Students' Patients Welfare Society came with an answer to all of these problems.SPWS is the Biggest organization of Pakistan run solely by undergraduate students of Pakistan.Being a President of S.P.W.S, I welcome Donors,Patients and Members to the website of SPWS.Use this website as aforum to help SPWS meet the challenges and support the poor patients.

It is unfortunate that most of the patients in our country come to hospital with fear and anxiety. They are often concerned about arrangements to provide costly medicines and other equipment requirements. Lack of knowledge and proper guidance about medicinal and clinical requirements often pose bigger challenges than the actual condition. The prescription from a doctor puts poor patients and their relatives in a difficult position. Their worries are nerve-wracking and distressing, both for the patients and for their relatives who are ready to make huge sacrifices for the sake of their relative.
Keeping this stressful condition in mind, the basic constitution of the Students' Patient Welfare Society (SPWS) was laid down in 1988 on sound footing with the objective of providing maximum relief to poor patients by providing medicines and other requirements free of cost.
The society comprises medical students who have volunteered to dedicate their time to the service of humanity. The Society's office at the Outdoor Department of Mayo Hospital is ready to provide all sorts of medical aid and advice within their limited means.

President SPWS, Umar Tariq

We,
The willing, led by
The unknowing are doing the impossible for the
Ungrateful.

We have done so much
For so long with so little that we are now
Qualified to do anything
With nothing.
